Tokyo Recap by Mel and Zach
Tokyo recap
By Melina & Zachary
With several hours at the airport today I had plenty of time to do an interview recapping the kids Tokyo thoughts. I love the microphone feature on the iphone. How it has simplified my life, I should send Apple a thank you note.
What was your favorite part of Tokyo?
Z: When we went shopping and I collected all the My Hero Academia pins for my backpack. And when we went to an arcade and daddy won sissy a big plush. It was super fun because you don’t see a lot of people win.
M: My favorite part of Tokyo were all the different districts. They were all unique. I liked all of it but there were definitely more people than I expected. It’s hard to pick a favorite part, all of it was so great.
What surprised you the most?
M: One thing that kind of surprised me was the price of everything. I expected prices to be lower than items in the states, but they weren’t. In some cases it was three times more than what you would pay the states.
Z: The hotels were so tiny and it surprised me that there were like 1 million vending machines. When we were on the airplane I could see the summit of Mount Fuji! And I spent 2,000 yen on capsule machines and that is $18!
What was your favorite food in Tokyo?
Z: I liked the packaged ramen but not the shrimp one.
M: My favorites were matcha ice cream and snapper sushi.
Would you go back?
M: Yes, I would most definitely go back. The next time I would like to also go to Kyoto as well and spend time in Harajuku. I should see if Katie will go with me or Ella, she would love it here.
Z: If I went back to Japan, I would like to see more arcades and even more vending machines. I loved them. Maybe some capsule hotels too.
