Meet the Johnston Family

Hello!

We’re the Johnston Family.

Wanders of the world, living life with new adventures and wanderlust. Well, for the year at least. We sold our home, put our belongings in storage, and headed off on a year - long travel adventure.

My intention with this blog is to track our journey, My memory is not what it used to be so this blog will help me capture our travels and create a book for the kids.

For those of you who know me personally, you may know that I started Travelbugz in 2000 when I was in graduate school working on my MBA. Starting “bugz” was part of my final project before graduating, and it has held a special place in my heart for the last 19 years (and continues to do so). Travelbugz has been through so many iterations over the years and has evolved from customized travel itineraries specific to Switzerland, a travel with kids website, my personal family blog for a while, and most recently, a site offering customized travel scavenger hunts based on books—-remember Read.Imagine.Travel?? That was my favorite version.

Well, for those of you looking for the family blog, it is still the original lifewithmgj but not updated. I know, I know. But, there are only so many hours in the day, and now with social media and how easily we can all connect, the original reason of starting the blog - to stay connected to family in CH and KY - it isn’t really necessary. Now when Zach has an update, he’ll FaceTime in real time : ) And, Bill gave me the wonderful present several years ago—-a printout of the blog in a several hundred page book that the kids LOVE to read.

So, for now Travelbugz is going to be used to meet up with other worldschooling families and to chronicle our journey over the next year. Once complete, I have a feeling we’ll print another book to save our memories on paper and then see where “bugz” will go next. Stay tuned. For now, join us on our journey!
