That's a wrap!
Sonoma Mission Inn - cheers to the end of chemo!
April 1, 2019, all jokes aside, this April Fool’s day was my port removal day! While I am not going to miss that little port one bit, I can’t imagine this last year without it. I got it the day after Valentine’s Day 2018 so sticking with the holiday theme, April 1st seems like a good day for removal. I finished my last herceptin infusion Feb 19, 2019. My mom took our picture —through her tears—after the nurses gave me my completion certificate. We celebrated with a family overnight at the Sonoma Mission Inn—-a place that has many happy memories for our family, starting with Kevin and Val’s wedding ceremony and reception 16 years ago.
So, now that this whole inconvenience of breast cancer is behind us, we say goodbye to multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation, 160+ doctor’s appointments, and hello to freedom in our schedules again, the ability to work again (and pay for all those 160+ doctor’s appointments : ) and most of all we say hello to HAIR!! Trust me, the bald look was not a good one for me. I may not have had great hair before, but bald was not a good alternative! I now embrace each and every little hair that grows on my head. And hats. Well, my hope is that someday soon I will love hats again. For now, it is still a bit raw so I’ll stick with the shade and embracing my bad hair days because after having no hair I’ll take a bad hair day any day.
Now, as Gretchen Rubin says, “Onward and upward!” let the travel planning begin!
We also celebrated with a family outing to HAMILTON!
