Boston, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod

Sharon’s Pick

The first leg of our trip was my pick. Originally, we had planned to go west and continue west making my top pick the last stop on our itinerary. However, once we started planning, I decided I wanted to head to the East Coast first. I had waited long enough for my visit to Nantucket and it was top on my list. And, I wanted to hit the “refresh button” on Martha’s Vineyard. Last time we were there we were celebrating my 43rd birthday. It was our first time to the Vineyard and we loved every minute of it. So much so that I had arranged - before ever setting foot on the island - to spend a day vacation house hunting while there. I just knew I would love it that much. And I did. While we didn’t find a place that was exactly what we were looking for, we already had plans to return over spring break to look again. Then, 10 days after my 43rd birthday, I found the lump in my breast. My 43rd year was spent in a whirlwind of uncertainty, doctor’s appointments, and treatment. Everything else took a backseat. Now, here we are, just less that 2 months shy of my 45th birthday, and we are headed back to Martha’s Vineyard. I can’t think of a better place to kick off our year of travel.
